Director of Strategic Development

The Director of Strategic Development is responsible for service line development, physician relations, and community relations to improve patient care in the communities served by Foothill Regional Medical Center.  Areas of focus include internal medicine, critical care, psychiatric, gerontology, and other hospital related services. Focuses on building relationships, through overseeing internal and external events, and increasing the awareness of hospital services. Performs coaching, training, hiring, counseling and performance assessment processes for a team of public relations/program development professionals.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Develops and implements initiatives through the management of program development.  Conducts and/or Leads meetings with hospital leadership, physicians, and/or program directors throughout the assigned geographic market to develop current or new service lines throughout the market and coordinate with PMG on synergies between physicians and services. Reports as appropriate (or requested) on activity and progress toward meeting goals of plan for each service line.
  • Plans and executes internal and external events and programs to health plans and medical groups/IPA designed  to enhance awareness of hospital services.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving, critical thinking, and prioritization of work to resolve department and employee issues as they arise in an appropriate and timely manner.  Performs coaching, training, hiring, counseling and performance assessment processes.
  • Exhibits professionalism when dealing with others and maintains constructive working relationships with co-workers and physicians.  Relates well with others including staff, colleagues, and internal/external customers.  Respects the rights, privacy, and property of others, and maintains strict confidentiality.  Operates with integrity and within all compliance guidelines.
  • Appropriately educates, mentors, and leads/participates in company initiatives, such as employee engagement, to foster a team-oriented culture.  Functions as a coach and positive role model by maintaining open lines of communication and establishing a safe work environment.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert regarding hospital strengths and weaknesses within the assigned geographic market.  Develops a clear understanding and expertise regarding services/programs that support community needs and patient care.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years of hospital program management experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role required.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to communicate to physicians and executives in a concise and effective manner. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Understanding of the strategic planning process. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills/abilities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Req. Certification/Licensure: Valid California Driver’s License and reliable/insured vehicle required.
